GFF Bulletin

The Global Financing Facility (GFF) is a multi-donor trust fund whose vision is “To support countries to end preventable deaths of women, children and adolescents and make progress towards Universal Health Coverage by 2030. The GFF Trust Fund donors include Canada, Denmark, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Susan T. Buffet foundation, Laerdal Global Health and MSD for mothers.

Zimbabwe is one of the new kid on the block as it joined GFF in May 2019, and is set to benefit to the tune of 25 million USD for a three year cycle. A delegation of 10 people was sent by the government of Zimbabwe to attend a GFF country workshop which was held in Tanzania from 29 September to 1 October 2019.

At country level GFF is a government led partnership bringing together key stakeholders to ensure the government’s priorities are achieved for women, children and adolescent health. Through a government led country platform one of the key outputs is development of an Investment Case. A roadmap approved by the Country Platform on 28 October 2019 is now in place for Zimbabwe with a target to have a Health Sector Investment case in place by end of November 2019. The major thrust for GFF is for government to take lead in a country dialogue through use of existing structures to accelerate progress on health and nutrition outcomes as well a progress towards Universal Health Coverage.
